POSITION SUMMARY:
- Maintain and repair district lawn care power and heavy equipment
- Assist mowing crews with mowing and detailing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or E.D (preferred)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experienced in the maintenance, operation, and repair of outdoor lawn and power equipment
- Experienced in the maintenance, operation, and repair of heavy equipment (i.e., backhoes, loaders, tractors)
- Experienced in the repair of hydraulic systems on various types of equipment
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate preventative maintenance records
- Experienced in basic welding and fabrication techniques
- Knowledge and experience in grounds and landscaping practices and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Board or designee
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years of lawn care and heavy-duty equipment repairs
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain all safety and code requirements of the State, local, and Board of Education
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks
- Maintain a preventative maintenance program with detailed record-keeping
- Change and sharpen blades on mowers, including reel back-lopping
- Communicate with grounds foremen and grounds supervisor regarding repairs and maintenance needs
- Determine parts, supplies, and equipment needs
- Maintain shop, tools, and equipment in an organized manner
- Repair heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, tractors, and trailers
- Repair riding and walk-behind mowers, weed eaters, edgers, and all other lawn care equipment
- Assist in maintaining and caring for school grounds so they will have an attractive appearance
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Tools/Equipment Used: Light truck or van, various tools such as hand and power tools, and other specialty tools related to specific craft assignment
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis
- Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (body fluids, bacteria, communicable diseases)
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
- Professional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the school board. During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed. Visible tattoos will be covered at all times.
