Position: FNS Appliance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
- Maintain and repair kitchen equipment in all schools keeping the equipment in excellent working condition
- Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure appliances are thoroughly cleaned and maintained throughout the year
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- State Accredited High School diploma or TEA-certified GED
- HACCP trained and Serv Safe Managers certification or equal certification
- Three years of successful experience in kitchen equipment repair or a similar field preferred
- Valid Texas Driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to read wiring and diagrams
- Skilled in the use of tools and equipment relating to kitchen equipment repair
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of District policy and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with school administrators, instructional personnel, support staff members, and others
- Ability to successfully complete several projects simultaneously and work without supervision
- Experience with excel and word programs
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of successful experience in kitchen equipment repair or a similar field
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Practice all safety regulations of the trade
- Take on the primary responsibility for the safe and functional condition of all kitchen equipment
- Report all safety hazards
- Work well independently
- Recommend equipment and parts for purchase
- Perform preventative maintenance as needed annually
- Respond to emergencies after regular working hours, on weekends, and holidays
- Assist Mechanical Distribution Supervisor and FNS Warehouse manager with installation of equipment, repairs, and delivery of products and goods to schools
- Operate school district vehicle safely and responsibly
- Maintain school vehicle and all tools in a clean and organized manner
- Participate in trainings to maintain professional standards requirements and stay updated with repair guidelines
- Utilize your time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities
- Be prompt in reporting to work, attending meetings and appointments
- Meet job completion deadlines set by your supervisor
- Work cooperatively with all Food and Nutrition staff to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met
- Maintain a professional attitude in all communication (email, written and verbal)
- Perform other duties as assigned

Tools/Equipment Used:
Including hand tools, small power tools, volt, ohm, AMP meters, and all other tools related to kitchen repair.
Standard office equipment including computer printer, copier, fax machine, shredder
- Motion: Frequent walking and reaching, frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); heavy lifting (45 pounds or over)
- Environment: Work inside and outside at times; exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Ability to interact positively and proactively with staff and the community, communicate verbally and in writing, maintain emotional control under stress
- Professional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed. Visible tattoos will be covered at all times
