POSITION SUMMARY:
- Assist in the maintenance of athletic fields throughout the district
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to understand detailed written and oral instructions
- Ability to operate power-driven lawn care equipment
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Athletic Field Maintenance:
- Mow and detail all district athletic fields
- Assist in the layout and marking of athletic fields
- Fertilize and irrigate competition and practice fields
- Maintenance of equipment used in athletic field care such as reel mower, weed eater, aerator, paint machine, chalk machine, and rotary mower
Safety:
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor
- Help keep the vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
- Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed
Other:
- Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Tools/Equipment Used: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor; mower; weed eater; light truck or van
- Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
- Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
- Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis
- Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel

- Professional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed. Visible tattoos will be covered at all times
