POSITION SUMMARY:
- Assist with providing safe transportation for special needs students to and from designated locations
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Acceptable driving record
- Satisfactory criminal history check
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must successfully complete a 20-hour special needs training course
Language Skills:
- Ability to read two and three-syllable words
- Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students
- Ability to read and understand maps
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and the School Board policies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Driver and students in the operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students
- Maintain good student conduct on the bus
- Secure special equipment that may accompany the student
- Be alert to any conditions presenting a danger to students
- Communicate appropriately with students, parents, and employees
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise students during transport
