POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • To help maintain the aesthetic appearance of the exterior and interior of district facilities to enhance the learning environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education/Certification: 

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. (preferred)   
  • Clear and valid Texas Driver’s license  

Special Knowledge/Skills:  

  • Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools 
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions 
  • Willing to attend classes and workshops 
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly apply paint
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist district painters in preparing and painting various types of surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures

Experience:  

  • No experience necessary 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Duties: 

  • Maintain all safety and code requirements of the State, local, and Board of Education
  • May be required to be on 24-hour call-out
  • May be required to be on 24-hour call-out
  • Assist in preparing surfaces for painting by sanding
  • Assist in drywall repairs by taping, floating, and texturing walls, and ceilings
  • Assist in painting various types of surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns
  • Assist in the restriping of district parking lots
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

EXPECTATIONS OF MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Light truck or van, various tools such as hand and power tools, and other tools as needed on work assignments.  Specialty tools related to specific craft assignment.
  • Motion: Frequent walking and reaching, frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis
  • Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather; exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (body fluids, bacteria, communicable diseases)
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
  • Professional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the Superintendent.  During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed.  Visible tattoos will be covered at all times
